04 Window Tinting / Sunshine Coast

Window Tinting Built For Queensland

Most people think window tint is about looking cool. It is, but that's the smallest reason to do it. Done properly, tint blocks 99% of UV rays, rejects up to 88% of infrared heat, cuts glare, protects your interior from fade, and adds privacy you'll feel every time you park in the Queensland sun. At JETWASH we install LLumar CeraNova ceramic film only, fitted personally by Jack at our Coolum Beach studio, backed by a lifetime manufacturer's warranty

Why The real reasons to tint

It's not about looking cool

Done well, window tint does five jobs at once. Here's what's actually happening inside that thin layer of film, and why it matters more in a Sunshine Coast climate than anywhere else in Australia

01 / Heat

Up To 88% Infrared Rejection

The headline benefit in a Queensland car

Sunshine Coast summers push past 35°C and the cabin of a parked car climbs higher than that within minutes. Untreated glass lets infrared radiation, the part of sunlight you actually feel as heat, pour through unfiltered. LLumar CeraNova ceramic film rejects up to 88% of that infrared. Your aircon does less work, your steering wheel doesn't burn your hand, and the cabin cools down twice as fast when you get back in. On a daily commute to Maroochydore or a school run from Coolum, the difference is felt within the first minute.

02 / UV

99% Blocked

UVA + UVB, every drive

Australia has the highest skin cancer rate in the world. UV is the cause, and it streams straight through untreated glass, even on cloudy days. Ceramic film blocks 99% of UVA and UVB, equivalent to SPF 1000+ for everyone inside the car. It also stops the dashboard cracking, leather lightening, and trim fading.

03 / Glare

Cut, Not Dimmed

Sharper vision, less eye strain

Western afternoon sun, oncoming headlights, reflection off wet roads after a coastal storm, all of it cuts your reaction time. Tint reduces harsh light without darkening your view. Optical clarity stays the same, the strain on your eyes drops dramatically.

04 / Privacy

See Out, Not In

Security at every traffic light

Phones, laptops, gym bags, child seats, work tools. Tint keeps everything inside the car out of view from outside. It also slows shattering in a smash-and-grab, since the film bonds to the glass and holds the pieces together long enough for an alarm to do its job.

05 / Interior

Showroom For Life

Resale value, locked in

Untreated glass cooks your interior every time you park. Dashboards crack, leather fades, plastic warps, fabric loses colour. Tint blocks the spectrum responsible for that damage, so the cabin still looks the way it did the day you drove off the lot when it's time to sell.

Process How we install tint at JETWASH

Six steps from drop-off to drive-away

Tint is one of those jobs where the difference between an average install and a perfect one comes down to environment, prep, and patience. This is the process every vehicle goes through at our Coolum Beach studio, fitted personally by Jack

  1. 01

    Consultation & Shade Selection

You bring the car in and we walk through what you actually want from the tint. Privacy first, heat first, or a balance of both. We'll show you the LLumar shade samples held against your own glass in real Sunshine Coast light, so you can see the difference between 20% and 35% before you commit. The windscreen always gets a clear or near-clear film for legal reasons, and we'll talk through Queensland's VLT limits so there are no surprises.

  2. 02

    Vehicle Prep & Glass Detailing

Every window cleaned twice, edges scraped clean of any old residue, rubber seals and trims inspected. The vehicle is then moved into the studio's controlled environment. Dust is the enemy of clean tint installation, so the studio is sealed and filtered specifically for film work. You don't get this in an open-air carport.

  3. 03

    Precision Computer-Cut Film

Every panel of LLumar CeraNova is cut by computer plotter to your exact vehicle profile. No hand-trim guesswork on the glass, no margin for blade slip, no risk of cutting into a defroster line on the rear window. The film arrives at the glass already shaped to follow the curve of your specific make and model.

  4. 04

    Application & Heat Shrink

Film is positioned with mounting solution then heat-shrunk to follow the compound curves of side and rear glass. Single-pass squeegee technique pushes water and air out without leaving streaks or stretch marks. Edges are tucked, gaskets reseated, every inch checked under direct light for trapped contaminants.

  5. 05

    Curing & Final Inspection

The vehicle stays in the studio while the bond sets. Every panel is inspected under direct light for bubbles, dust particles, edge gaps, and shade consistency. If a panel isn't right, it's redone. We don't release a car with even one questionable window.

  6. 06

    Aftercare Brief

You leave with a written warranty card and a clear aftercare brief. Don't roll the windows down for 48 hours. Avoid ammonia-based cleaners forever. Any haze or moisture you see in the first week is normal water curing out from behind the film. We're a phone call away if anything ever looks off.

Film Three types, one we install

There are three types of window film. We only fit one.

Every window film on the market sits in one of three categories. They look similar from the kerb but they perform completely differently in a Queensland car. Here's the honest breakdown of each, and why we made the choice we did

Dyed

Entry tier

  • Heat Rejection ~5%
  • UV Block 99%
  • Lifespan 2-3 yrs
  • Warranty Limited

Cheapest option. Mostly a colour, not a performance product. Fades to a purple haze within a couple of summers and bubbles at the edges as the adhesive breaks down. You'll be paying to redo the same windows.

Carbon

Mid tier

  • Heat Rejection ~40%
  • UV Block 99%
  • Lifespan 7-10 yrs
  • Warranty Manufacturer

Better. Doesn't fade like dyed and rejects more heat, but still leaves enough infrared coming through that a parked car heats up the same as untreated glass on a 35°C day. Acceptable for cooler climates, underpowered for Queensland.

JETWASH installs

Ceramic

Premium tier / LLumar CeraNova

  • Heat Rejection Up to 88%
  • UV Block 99%
  • Lifespan Lifetime
  • Warranty Lifetime

Non-metallic ceramic technology engineered by Eastman Chemical. Won't fade, won't bubble, won't interfere with GPS, phone, or radio signal. Crystal clear optically, even on the lighter shades. The only film we'll put on a customer's car.

Why we picked one and stuck with it

We could install dyed for less. We won't. Dyed film is mostly a colour, fades to purple in a couple of summers, and ends up costing you more when you replace it. Carbon's better but doesn't reject enough infrared to make a real difference in a Sunshine Coast car. Ceramic costs more upfront, but it's the only film that actually does what tint is supposed to do, for as long as you own the car. So that's all we install. If a different shop quotes you cheaper, ask them what film they're using and what the warranty is. The answer will explain the price.

FAQ Common questions, straight answers

What people ask before booking

If your question isn't here, call Jack on 0497 731 719. We'd rather have a five-minute chat than have you guessing

How long does a tint install take?

For a standard sedan or hatch, two to three hours. For larger SUVs and dual-cab utes, three to four. We usually book vehicles in for a half-day, so you can drop off in the morning, grab a coffee, and pick up the same afternoon. Complicated rear-screen curves on some European cars can stretch the job slightly longer.

How long until I can roll my windows down?

48 hours minimum. The film bonds to the glass through the mounting solution slowly evaporating, and rolling a window down before that's complete will catch the soft edge of the film against the rubber seal and lift it. Three to seven days is even better in cooler or wet weather. Aircon, heating, music, all fine. Just don't touch the window switches.

Will it bubble or peel over time?

A correctly installed ceramic film won't. Bubbling and peeling are almost always symptoms of cheaper dyed film breaking down, or of contamination trapped during a rushed install in a dusty environment. LLumar CeraNova is backed by a lifetime manufacturer warranty against bubbling, peeling, cracking, and colour change. If it ever happens on a JETWASH install, bring the car back.

Can the tint be removed if I change my mind?

Yes. Removal is a separate service, takes around an hour per window, and uses heat plus film-safe solvents to lift the film and clean the adhesive off the glass. We can also retint at a different shade in the same visit. Removing dyed film that's been on for years is messier than removing recently installed ceramic.

Will tint affect my GPS, phone signal, or radio?

Not with ceramic film. Older metallic tints used a thin metallic layer that interfered with cellular and GPS signals. LLumar CeraNova is a non-metallic ceramic technology, so it has zero effect on GPS, mobile reception, Bluetooth, AM/FM radio, or any in-car electronics. This is a major reason we chose ceramic over carbon and dyed.

What's the actual difference between dyed, carbon, and ceramic film?

Dyed film is the cheapest, mostly cosmetic, fades to purple within two or three Queensland summers. Carbon film doesn't fade and rejects more heat, but still leaves a parked car uncomfortably hot in 35°C weather. Ceramic film rejects up to 88% of infrared heat, blocks 99% of UV, doesn't interfere with electronics, and is backed by a lifetime warranty. We only install ceramic.

What are the legal tint limits in Queensland?

Front side windows: 35% VLT minimum. Rear side and rear windows: 20% VLT minimum (with external rear-view mirrors fitted, which all modern cars have). Windscreen: no aftermarket film below the AS1 line, but a tint strip is allowed across the top 10%. We won't install any film outside these limits.

What's the warranty?

LLumar CeraNova carries a lifetime manufacturer's warranty against bubbling, peeling, cracking, delamination, and colour change. The warranty is honoured nationwide through LLumar's Australian distributor network. We hand you a written warranty card with the install paperwork on the day you collect the car.
