Vacuuming Won't Save Your Interior, Five Things Will Kill It First
Interior wear isn't one problem, it's five, and they all run in parallel. By the time you notice cracked plastic, faded leather, or that smell that won't shift, the damage has been compounding for years. Protection works because it gets ahead of every one of these.
UV Damage
Queensland UV cracks dashboards, fades leather, and yellows plastics within years, not decades. North facing parking and uncovered school runs accelerate it. UV stable sealants stop the photo-degradation before it starts.
Spills & Liquids
Coffee, juice, sunscreen, milkshakes, takeaway sauce. Untreated fabric absorbs the lot in seconds. Hydrophobic coatings make the same spill bead up and wipe straight off, no stain, no smell.
Abrasion
Beach sand acts like sandpaper across leather bolsters. Dog claws shred fabric. Kids' shoes wear through carpet at the entry point. Surface coatings lift the friction point off the material itself.
Dye Transfer & Stains
Dark denim transfers onto cream and tan leather. Makeup smudges onto headrests. Pen ink hits the centre console. Sealed surfaces release these stains during a routine wipe down instead of locking them in.
Odour & Microbes
Wet swimmers, gym bags, food spills, dogs, takeaway. Smells embed in carpet, headliner, and seat foam. Gtechniq's BioCote® antimicrobial layer works against the bacteria that cause those smells in the first place.
Sunshine Coast cars take more interior punishment than most
Beach trips drag salt water and sand into every footwell. Surfboards leave wax on the headliner. Sunscreen ends up everywhere it shouldn't be. School pickup runs grind biscuit crumbs into the back seat. Wet swimmers and sandy paws live on the boot floor between Easter and Christmas. Our local interiors aren't garaged showpieces, they're working family vehicles in one of the toughest UV zones in Australia. Protection isn't optional, it's the difference between an interior that holds value and one that looks tired in three years.
How Jack Protects an Interior, Step by Step
Interior protection isn't one product on every surface. It's five stages, four different chemistries, and a careful read of what your specific car actually needs. Jack has been doing this since 2008, and every step exists because skipping it shows up six months later.
Full Interior Decontamination First
You can't seal in dirt. Every job starts with a deep vacuum (including under seats, between seat rails, and inside seat pockets), compressed air through every vent and crevice, and pH neutral cleaning across all surfaces. Heavy stains get treated separately, with extraction and quoted upfront if needed. Nothing gets sealed until it's properly clean.
Surface Assessment, Material by Material
Leather, vinyl, Alcantara, fabric, carpet, and headliner all need different chemistries. Some "leather" interiors are actually polyurethane. Some seats are mixed (leather on the bolsters, fabric in the centre). Jack identifies every surface, checks for existing damage like cracking or dye loss, and matches the right Gtechniq product to each one. No one size fits all approach.
Targeted Gtechniq Application
Each surface gets the right product, applied to manufacturer specification. L1 Smart Fabric AX on cloth seats, carpet, and Alcantara. L1 Leather Guard on genuine leather. C6 Matte Dash AX on plastics, vinyl, and trim. Application is done in our climate controlled studio, not in a driveway, because temperature and humidity affect how the coatings cure and bond.
Curing & Bonding
Most coatings need a minimum of 2 to 4 hours to bond properly, with full cure happening over the following 24 to 48 hours. We don't hand the car back wet. You'll get it back ready to use, but with clear guidance on what to avoid for the first two days (hot drinks straight after pickup, for example).
Walkthrough & Aftercare
Before you drive away, Jack walks you through what was done, what each product does, what to expect, and how to maintain it. The protection is meant to make life easier, not give you a list of rules. We also send a written aftercare summary so the family member who actually deals with the spills knows what's going on.
Three Levels Of Protection; Pick The One That Matches Your Car
Not every interior needs the full Gtechniq Smart Surface Science package. We've split protection into three tiers so you can match the spend to the car, the use case, and how long you plan to keep it.

What It Costs By Vehicle Size
Bigger interior, more material to protect. We price every tier across four vehicle sizes so there are no surprises. Sub categories use total interior surface area, not seat count.
| Vehicle Size | Essential Fabric | Premium | Full Smart Surface |
|---|---|---|---|
Small Hatchbacks, sedans (Mazda 3, Corolla, MX 5) | $175 | $395 | $695 |
Medium Mid SUVs, dual cab utes (CX 5, RAV4, HiLux) | $225 | $475 | $825 |
Large Large SUVs, 7 seaters (Prado, Kluger, Pajero) | $275 | $565 | $945 |
Huge 8 seat 4WDs, vans (LandCruiser 300, Patrol, Carnival) | $325 | $645 | $1095 |
$100 Off When You Bundle

Every Surface Gets Its Own Product. Here's What We Use Where
One product can't seal six different materials. We use the full Gtechniq Smart Surface Science range, matched surface by surface, so every part of your interior gets the chemistry it actually needs.
Leather
Conditions and seals genuine leather in one step. Resists dye transfer from dark denim, blocks sunscreen and UV damage, and keeps the leather supple instead of letting it dry out and crack at the bolsters.
Fabric Seats
A hydrophobic, oleophobic coating that bonds to fabric fibres without changing their texture or breathability. Spills bead and wipe off. Most stains release with a damp cloth, no extraction needed.
Alcantara
Alcantara is delicate, most products will flatten the nap or leave a residue. We use the only Gtechniq fabric coating officially rated for Alcantara, so steering wheels, headliners, and seat inserts stay protected without losing their feel.
Plastic, Vinyl & Trim
UV stable matte finish for dashboards, door cards, centre consoles, and trim. No greasy shine, no sticky residue. Stops the photo-degradation that turns plastics yellow and brittle in Queensland sun.
Carpet & Floor Mats
Carpet takes more abuse than any other interior surface, mud, sand, takeaway, dropped drinks. Sealing it means liquids sit on top long enough to be wiped instead of soaking through to the underlay.
Headliner
Headliners hold smoke, food smells, and surfboard wax. We carefully spot clean first (the foam backing is delicate), then apply a light fabric coating to resist future contamination without saturating the material.

Interior Protection, Answered
The questions Jack gets most often. Anything not covered here, call him directly on 0497 731 719
How long does the protection actually last? +
Depends on the tier. Essential fabric protection lasts around 12 months. Premium leather and trim coatings hold up for 18 to 24 months. The full Gtechniq Smart Surface Science package is rated up to 5 years with normal use and aftercare. We give honest, product specific durability ranges, not the marketing best case.
Can you remove existing stains before applying? +
Most of the time, yes. Light staining gets handled as part of the standard decontamination step at no extra cost. Heavy or set in stains (old coffee, wine, vomit, ink) need spot extraction and we'll quote that separately after a quick inspection. We won't seal over a stain, that just locks it in permanently.
Is it safe for child seats and leather? +
Yes. All Gtechniq interior products are non toxic once cured and safe for child seats, pets, and food contact areas. The BioCote antimicrobial layer actually makes them more hygienic than untreated fabric. We can remove and reinstall child seats during the job if needed, just let us know how many at booking.
What if I get a coffee spill, will it stain? +
On a fabric surface protected with L1 Smart Fabric AX, a coffee spill should bead on top of the fabric instead of soaking in. Wipe it off within a few minutes with a damp cloth and there's typically no mark. The longer it sits and the hotter the liquid, the more chance of slight residue, but a treated seat is dramatically more forgiving than an untreated one.
Can you treat Alcantara safely? +
Yes. Most detailers won't touch Alcantara because the wrong product flattens the nap or leaves marks. We use Gtechniq L1 Smart Fabric AX, which is officially rated as Alcantara safe. Steering wheels, seat inserts, and headliners can all be sealed without damaging the texture or feel.
How long until I can use the car normally? +
Most jobs take a full day in the studio. You'll get the car back ready to drive, but we ask you avoid hot drinks, food, and heavy use for the first 24 hours so the coatings can fully cure. After that, normal use is fine.
Does it work on aged or cracked leather? +
Protection slows further damage but it doesn't reverse cracking that's already there. For mildly aged leather, we'll condition first to restore some flexibility before sealing. For badly cracked leather, the right move is professional leather repair before protection, and we'll be straight with you about which one your seats actually need.
What's the difference between conditioning and sealing? +
Conditioning replaces oils and softness in leather, but it wears off in weeks and offers almost no stain or UV protection on its own. Sealing creates a long lasting protective barrier on top. Our leather treatments do both in one step, condition first, then seal, so the leather stays soft and protected for up to 24 months.
